One of the great literary works in the software reverse engineering field, “The Ghidra Book” serves not only as a fantastic introductory guide for using Ghidra, it can also be used effectively as a reference guide. This book will teach you the in’s and out’s of all things Ghidra and does an excellent job breaking down even the most complicated questions you might’ve had about how Ghidra works and really digs into the internals of this software package in true reverse engineering fashion. To provide a better understanding of what you might learn if you decide to pick up this book, I’ll list the five parts that compose this book below:
- PART I: Introduction
- PART II: Basic Ghidra Usage
- PART III: Making Ghidra Work For You
- PART IV: A Deeper Dive
- PART V: Real-World Application
Overall I think this pair of authors did an outstanding job with this book. It’s important to note that this book is about Ghidra, and only Ghidra and while it does touch lightly on the fundamentals of software reverse engineering I would recommend you look elsewhere (see my “Practical Malware Analysis“ review). However, if your goal is to know everything there is to know about Ghidra (including all of its internals) this book faithfully provides a total and complete insight for any reverse engineer, new or old, to learn about the true potential that the Ghidra SRE framework provides. On that note, I think overall this book provides a fantastic insight into the Ghidra SRE framework and would serve as a great read for anyone interested in learning more about the package.
